Staff Spotlight: Meet Abi, Our New Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner!

We’re excited to welcome Abi Ajuwon, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, to the Family Health Clinic team!

Abi brings a wealth of experience in both inpatient and outpatient care, along with a passion for holistic, community-based healthcare. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a specialization in psychiatric-mental health from Purdue University. She later completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nursing at the University of Arizona.

She’s looking forward to building strong relationships with patients and helping reduce health disparities in our community. Continue reading to learn more about her background, specialty, and more!

Q: What is your specialty?

My specialty is Psychiatric Mental Health. I have experience working with patients facing mental health challenges in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I am also a Clinical Assistant Professor at Purdue University School of Nursing.

Q: What drew you to the Family Health Clinic?

I was drawn to the Family Health Clinic because of its commitment to providing compassionate, quality, patient-centered care to a diverse population. The clinic’s focus on accessible and affordable healthcare, health promotion, strong patient-provider relationships, and addressing both physical and mental health needs aligns closely with my passion for holistic and community-based care.

Q: What are you most looking forward to while working at the Family Health Clinic?

I am most looking forward to building meaningful relationships with my patients, collaborating with a dedicated healthcare team, and contributing to the clinic’s mission of providing high-quality care that meets the needs of the community.

Q: Why do you think services like those offered at the FHC are important in our community?

The Family Health Clinic provides comprehensive medical and mental health services that help reduce health disparities, promote preventive care, and support community well-being through targeted interventions. I am passionate about advancing community education and promoting health to help reduce health disparities among patients.
