Expanding Our Care With Mobile Outreach

By The Family Health Clinic Team

The Family Health Clinic is on the go! With continuous support from local organizations, our ability to reach out to our communities has grown. Continue reading to learn more about our new Mobile Outreach Initiative and how you can help us make even more of an impact.

About the Mobile Outreach Initiative

Our Mobile Outreach unit is a 20-foot trailer with air conditioning, heat, sinks, water hook-up, concession windows, and more. Its intended purpose is to stock it full of necessities, including toilet paper, laundry detergent, toothpaste, and more.

By partnering with local organizations and participating in community drives and donations, we will be able to stock the trailer with items year-round to be distributed back to our community for no cost.

With the ability to be mobile, we can easily reach our communities where they are, by coordinating with existing events such as the Food Finders Mobile Food Pantry, back-to-school events, community meals, and more.

Bridging Gaps in Community Assistance

Recent years have shown that it is getting more and more difficult to support yourself, let alone a family. Resources such as local food pantries and Indiana’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provide vital assistance to individuals who are struggling to make ends meet. These programs, however, typically only help with obtaining food and nutrition. Other necessities, such as toothpaste, are not eligible to be purchased using SNAP benefits even if these items are critical to good health and wellness.

With the help of community members and partner organizations, the Mobile Outreach team can bridge this gap in assistance by distributing donated items to our communities in need. By providing necessities at no cost, we hope to eliminate barriers that stand in the way of an individual reaching their full potential.

Donate to the FHC Mobile Outreach Initiative

To work toward our mission, we call on you and local organizations to help us keep the trailer stocked full of household and hygiene necessities. Here is a list of items we need to stock the Mobile Outreach unit:

  • Toothpaste, floss, toothbrushes
  • Deodorant
  • Hand soap
  • Body wash, Shampoo & Conditioner
  • Toilet paper, Paper towel, Kleenex/Tissues
  • Personal hygiene products
    • Pads, tampons
  • Laundry Detergent
  • Diapers, Baby wipes
  • All-purpose cleaning products
    • Lysol wipes, Lysol spray
  • Toilet cleaner
  • Dish soap
  • Trash bags

NOTE: Items in bulk are generally more cost-effective. However, we ask for individually wrapped products when at all possible (i.e., pack of 4 individually wrapped toothbrushes, 24 individually wrapped paper towels). This helps with distribution and maintaining the cleanliness of the items we are distributing.

How to donate:

  • Bring donations to any of our four locations
  • Purchase from our Amazon Wishlist & have your donation shipped directly to us
  • Provide monetary donations that will be used to purchase needed items
  • Participate in the 2nd-Annual Do it In Delphi Dash 5K!

This year, all proceeds from the Family Health Clinic’s Do It In Delphi Dash 5K will go toward stocking the trailer with items we can distribute back to our community. On October 21, 2023, the Mobile Outreach trailer will be parked downtown Delphi, IN all morning where we will be collecting items and donations to fill the shelves of the trailer. Thanks to our sponsor, Team Rehabilitation, we are raffling off a Yeti Cooler full of items for a fun-filled outing.

  • Each raffle entry is $10 (or $10 equivalent item[s])
  • There is no limit to the number of entries per person
  • Participation in the 5K is not required to enter the raffle
  • Winner(s) will be chosen at random and will be contacted to claim their prize
