We’re excited to introduce Casey, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate who recently joined our team as a School-Based Behavioral Health Specialist. Check out her blog to learn more about her background, approach to counseling, and what inspires her to serve local students and families.

Q: Can you tell us a little about your background and education?
I received my Master’s degree in counseling with a focus in school counseling from Boise State University. My professional background is in higher education and K–12 public education, and I previously worked as a school counselor. I’m passionate about supporting students and helping them thrive both emotionally and academically.
Q: What drew you to the Family Health Clinic?
I really appreciate the clinic’s mission and the services they’re providing to our communities. It’s clear that the FHC is truly committed to meeting people where they are and supporting their whole health. I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of.
Q: What will your role be as a School-Based Behavioral Health Specialist? Do you have any specialties?
I will be providing school-based mental health counseling for Carroll County students. My approach to counseling is rooted in the Adlerian model, which emphasizes belonging, connectedness, and cooperation. My style is strengths-based and focused on encouragement.
I also incorporate tools from DBT, Play Therapy, Art Therapy, Mindfulness, Positive Discipline, and EMDR, depending on what each student needs. My goal is always to create a safe, calming environment where students feel supported, heard, and empowered to make positive changes in their lives and at school.
Q: What are you most looking forward to in this new role?
I’m really looking forward to helping kids meet their counseling goals and navigate difficult situations. I love providing mental health counseling, and I’ve always enjoyed working in schools. I’m excited to now be in a role that combines both!
Q: Why do you think services like those offered at the FHC are important in our community?
I grew up in a small community near Delphi, so I know firsthand how needed these services are in rural areas. It’s amazing that the Family Health Clinic can help so many families not just with healthcare, but also with behavioral health and other important resources.
Welcome to the team, Casey! We’re grateful to have you supporting students and families in our communities.
