By The Family Health Clinic Team

This month, we’re spotlighting Sarah Myers, our new Family Nurse Practitioner! Get to know her better by reading about her previous education, work experience, and our interview with her.

Sarah’s Education and Work Experience

  • Sarah received her graduate degree from Purdue Northwest.
  • She started her career in urgent care and occupational medicine.
  • She’s worked for the past few years in rural health primary care.

A Conversation with Sarah

What drew you to the Family Health Clinic?

I am excited to be involved with Purdue and be able to continue providing care for an area with limited access to care. I am looking forward to the career opportunities Purdue provides.

What are you most looking forward to about working at The Family Health Clinic?

I am excited to care for the patients of that community and look forward to working with the other providers!

What is your favorite part of your job?

Education! I believe that educating patients about the disease processes and medications allows patients to understand and be more involved in their care. I also love preventative care. Making sure patients are up-to-date on health screenings, immunizations, etc, is really a part of care that should be given more focus! This allows us to catch problems earlier or even prevent them.

Why do you think the Family Health Clinic is important to the local community?

They provide service to an area that is under-resourced and has limited health care access.

What made you choose your specialty of Family Nurse Practitioner?

I chose family medicine because it allows for a little touch into all areas rather than focusing on one specialty. We are also the first line of care for many people.

Is there anything else you want to share about yourself?

I grew up in a small, rural community on a family farm. I spend a lot of my free time with my husband taking our 9-month-old on new adventures!

Sarah, we are so happy to have you as part of the Family Health Clinic!
